Configurable Rules Engine Now Powers Defend Fraud Detection
Proof's Defend fraud detection capabilities now include a configurable rules engine that supports global and customer-specific risk policies, allowing risk controls to be adjusted as new fraud patterns emerge.
- Audience: Organizations using Defend
- Risk policy management is handled by Proof internally; no customer configuration required. Applies to future transactions.
AI-Generated Risk Summary Available in the Defend Risk Tab
A plain-language AI-generated summary is available at the top of the Risk tab in Defend, explaining a transaction's risk score and the key signals that contributed to it. The summary is also included in downloadable identity reports, and users can submit feedback on each summary using a thumbs up or thumbs down.
- Audience: Business (including NST), Title, and Lender — Defend customers only
- Roles: Owners and Admins with the Fraud role enabled
- Available automatically to all Defend customers when navigating to the Risk tab or downloading an identity report. Summaries are generated on demand, not precomputed. Applies to completed transactions.
Manual Template Selection During Document Upload Now Available for Business Customers
Previously released to Title, Business customers can now select a template to apply to an uploaded document, automatically copying all of its fields. This serves as an alternative to automatic template matching. Users may select a template from their document template list or choose "No template" to upload the document without any fields applied.
- Audience: Business customers using document templates
- Roles: Owners, Admins, and users with send & manage permissions
- Off by default; must be requested and enabled by CSM. Once enabled, the template picker appears automatically in the document upload modal. Applies to future transactions only.
Recipient Name Locked by Default on Identify Transactions
Recipient name is now locked by default on all Identify transactions, helping prevent unauthorized changes to the recipient name during the identification process. This can be overridden via the API.

- Roles: Owners, Admins, and users with send & manage permissions
New proof-verify-react SDK for Adding Identity Verification to Web Applications
Developers can now add a Proof identity verification button to their web applications using the proof-verify-react SDK. The button initiates an OpenID-based credential presentation flow, allowing end users to verify their identity through Proof without requiring developers to build their own identity verification infrastructure. The accompanying proof-verify-common library handles OAuth authorization, credential type mapping, and sandbox and production environment configuration for both browser and Node.js environments.
- Audience: Developers and technical integrators building on Proof's OID4VP API
- Roles: API integrators and developers (integration setup); Signers and Recipients (identity presentation flow)
- Available via public package registry. Sandbox mode is included for development and testing without production credentials. Applies to future transactions only.
