Digital ID for Business Organizations
Proof's Digital ID for Business Organizations allows signers who complete four IAL2-compliant transactions to save their verified identity on Proof, enabling them to bypass full identity verification in future transactions by using multi-factor authentication and a selfie, and organizations must contact their Customer Success Manager to enable this feature.
The short answer: Your signers can save their verified identity on Proof after completing 4 IAL2-compliant transactions, reducing future transactions to multi-factor authentication and a quick selfie instead of the full identity verification process.
Save Your Signers Time on Every Transaction
When a signer saves their identity on Proof, their verified credentials are stored so they can skip the full verification process in future transactions. Instead of completing credential analysis and selfie comparison each time, they verify with multi-factor authentication and a selfie.
Request Proof Digital ID for Your Org
Proof Digital ID is not enabled by default. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to add it to your organization's account.
Signers Opt In
Once the feature is enabled, signers become eligible to save their identity after completing 4 IAL2-compliant transactions on Proof. After completing their 4th transaction, signers are prompted to save their identity. Proof confirms their IAL2 verification before a Proof Digital ID card is added to their account.
Signers Use Digital ID for Future Transactions
For each new transaction, signers verify their identity using multi-factor authentication and a selfie instead of going through the full IAL2 process again.

Identity and Authentication Assurance Levels
NIST Digital Identity Guidelines define Identity Assurance Levels (IAL) and Authenticator Assurance Levels (AAL) to ensure secure identity verification at enrollment and login, with IAL2 requiring government ID validation and record checks for initial proofing, and AAL2 mandating multi-factor authentication combining knowledge, possession, or biometric factors to protect user data and reduce fraud.
How Financial Institutions Can Keep Customers Safe with Authentication
The article emphasizes that financial institutions must implement strong, layered, and biometric-based authentication methods—moving toward passwordless solutions and combining identity verification with fraud intelligence platforms like Proof—to effectively combat rising threats such as account takeover, credential stuffing, and SIM-swapping, thereby protecting customer assets, maintaining trust, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
What is NIST IAL2 identity verification? | Proof
NIST Identity Assurance Level 2 (IAL2), defined in Special Publication 800-63, is a government standard that requires verifying the real-world existence of an identity and confirming the applicant as its rightful owner, providing a high degree of confidence suitable for remote digital transactions and widely adopted by federal agencies, private businesses, and state and local governments as a practical and robust identity verification method.
NIST IAL2 Compliant Identity Verification
Proof has announced that its signature NIST IAL2 compliant identity verification transactions are now certified with the Kantara Trust Mark, ensuring rigorous evaluation and approval for secure, seamless remote identity verification across various regulated industries such as automotive, financial services, healthcare, and government, thereby enabling high-security digital transactions and reducing fraud risks.
