NNA and NSA Requirements for On-Demand Notaries
To work as an on-demand notary on Proof, you must have a free NNA ID number and a Notary Signing Agent (NSA) certification—which requires passing an exam and background check—while NNA membership is optional but beneficial for compliance resources.
Audience: On-demand Notaries (ODN)
Your NNA ID number and notary signing agent (NSA) certification are both required to work as an on-demand notary on Proof. An NNA membership is not required.
NNA Membership
A membership with the National Notary Association® is not required to join the Proof platform or to get your NNA ID number. However, membership comes with benefits that can help you save money and stay compliant with your state's notary laws.
NNA ID Number
Your NNA ID number is required to create an account on Proof. You don't need a paid membership to get one — just a free NNA account.
Notary Signing Agent Certification
NSA certification is required to work as an on-demand notary on Proof. To join the Notarize Network as an on-demand notary, you'll need to:
- Obtain NSA certification
- Pass a background check
- Complete the NSA certification exam
