Principal Notarization Process and Requirements

The Principal notarization process requires uploading an unsigned PDF form, verifying identity with a valid government-issued photo ID and a matching address ID, connecting via live video with a commissioned notary who witnesses the signature, followed by payment and document submission to principal.com, with specific ID requirements including passports for customers without Social Security Numbers and detailed criteria for acceptable address IDs.

How it works

1. Upload your documents

Collect all of the pages of your form as a single PDF. You can manually fill out the form prior to upload, or leave it blank and complete it on the Proof platform. However, do not sign the form before uploading. You must sign the document during the notary session.

2. Verify your identity

Proof will ask you a series of questions and prompt photos of a valid, government-issued ID to quickly and securely verify your identity.

3. Connect with a live notary agent

In seconds, Proof will connect you with a commissioned notary over a live video feed. The notary will confirm your identity, witness your signature, and assist you throughout the process.

4. Submit your documents

After the notary meeting, Proof will prompt for credit card payment before you can access your completed forms. You will then need to upload the document to your portal on principal.com.
