Send a Transaction to Multiple Signers – Proof Help Center
The Proof Help Center explains that multiple-signer transactions can be conducted via co-located, concurrent, or split signing methods, each with specific email address requirements—shared emails allowed only for co-located signers and unique emails required for concurrent or split signers—and provides detailed instructions on adding multiple signers during transaction setup, as well as guidance on correcting email address errors depending on the transaction status.
Signing Options for Multiple Signers
Whether your signers are in the same room or across the country, Proof supports three methods for multiple-signer transactions:
- Co-located: Signers are in the same room and join the same notary meeting together on a single device.
- Concurrent: Signers are in different locations and simultaneously join the same notary meeting from their own separate devices.
- Split signing: Signers are in different locations and meet with a notary at separate times, resulting in individual meetings and individual fees per session.
For a full breakdown of each signing method, see the Multiple-Signer Transactions Overview.
Email Address Requirements
Email requirements depend on how your signers plan to meet:
- Co-located signers: Shared email addresses are permitted — signers are in the same room using the same device.
- Concurrent or split signers: Unique email addresses are required — every signer must have their own email address to access the platform securely.
Used the wrong email address? Here's what to do based on the transaction status:
- Sent or Viewed: Recall (real estate) or Edit (business) the transaction to update the email addresses.
- Attempted: If signers have already started identity verification, you must cancel and clone the transaction. Update recipients with unique email addresses before resending.
