Test the connection between eOriginal Notes and Proof – Proof Help Center
The document provides detailed instructions for organizations with owner or admin roles to verify the connection between eOriginal's Test on Demand (TOD) account and Proof's Fairfax sandbox environment by creating test eNote transactions via the Proof web UI or API/Encompass integrations, including prerequisites, step-by-step procedures for generating and verifying eNotes in the eOriginal Vault, and guidance on using dummy or real signer data as needed.
Audience: Organizations
The short answer: eOriginal provides a Test on Demand (TOD) account for testing eNotes before going live. This TOD account connects to the Proof Fairfax (sandbox) environment. Below are procedures for verifying the connection between eOriginal and Proof is working correctly.
This content is for any user in your real estate organization with an owner or admin role.
Prerequisites
- Set up eOriginal Vault
- Connect eOriginal to Proof
Testing overview
For most integrations, using the Proof web UI to create test transactions (Test 1) is sufficient to verify the integration is working. If you're using an Encompass or API integration, see the Test 1 Alternate instructions below.
Test 1 — Verify API keys and eNote creation in eOriginal
All data for this test can be fake, except where noted.
- 1.Log in to your Fairfax account (app.fairfax.proof.com).
- 2.Select New Transaction.
- 3.Choose one of the following options — either tests whether the eNote generates in eOriginal correctly:
- Fill in an online closing eligible address, or
- Test a hybrid with eNote transaction.
- 4.Fill in the other transaction information. All data can be dummy data — except if you're also running Test 2 below, use your own name and email for the signer.
- 5.At the eNote section, select Upload to upload an eNote seed file or fill it out manually.
- 6.The eNote creator opens. Verify the data and select Create eNote.
- 7.The window closes and you're prompted for the signer's Social Security number.*
- 8.Open the eOriginal TOD vault in a new window and verify the eNote was created.
Test 1 alternate — Using an API or Encompass integration
Prerequisite: Your integration must use the API key for the Fairfax account.
- 1.Prepare an online closing or hybrid with eNote file as normal. If you're also running Test 2 below, use your own name and email for the signer.
- 2.Send the transaction to Proof.
- 3.Open the eOriginal TOD vault in a new window and verify the eNote was created.
For Encompass lenders
If you're using the Encompass integration with Proof, see the relevant articles for specific steps on generating eNotes. The same eNote steps apply in both online and hybrid closings from Encompass.
Test 2 (optional) — Verify Proof can sign, seal, and register eNotes in eOriginal
Prerequisites for this test:
- eOriginal TOD vault is connected to a MERS "training region."
- Fairfax account is set to "Send to signer" (or "Send to Title Agency" if a title company is collaborating on this test).
- For online closings, you must arrange a time with a Proof employee who can act as a "Fairfax Notary." For hybrid with eNote closings, a notary is not required since KBA is enabled so you can sign it yourself.
- 1.Complete all other transaction fields and send to the signer.
- 2.As the signer, open the transaction and follow the prompts to review your documents.
- 3.Follow the prompts to start a notary meeting.
- 4.Once in the notary meeting, sign documents and complete the transaction.
- 5.Open the eOriginal TOD vault in a new window and verify the eNote is signed and registered.
Summary Checklist
- Complete prerequisites: eOriginal Vault set up and connected to Proof.
- Test 1: Create a test transaction in Fairfax → create eNote → verify it appears in the eOriginal TOD vault.
- Test 2 (optional): Complete a full signing → verify the eNote is signed and registered in eOriginal. Requires MERS training region and coordination with a Proof employee for online closings.
