Transfer Account Ownership to Existing Team Member – Proof Help Center
The Proof Help Center article explains that only current owners and admins can transfer account ownership to an existing team member by navigating to Users, selecting the member's options, editing their role to Owner, and saving changes, after which the previous owner becomes an admin automatically.
Audience: Organizations
Every account requires an owner — accounts can have multiple admins but only one owner. Here's how to transfer ownership to an existing team member. Only current owners and admins can perform this action.
After ownership is transferred, the previous owner automatically becomes an admin. If you need to remove that account entirely, see the article on deactivating an existing user's account.
Assign a New Owner
- 1.Log in to your Proof account.
- 2.Select Users from the navigation panel on the left.
- 3.Find the team member you'd like to make the new owner.
- 4.Select the 3 vertical dots in the row of that user.
- 5.Select Edit role & permissions from the menu that appears.
- 6.Select Owner from the dropdown in the Edit Permissions window.
- 7.Select Save changes.
Summary Checklist
- Users → find the team member → 3 dots → Edit role & permissions → select Owner → Save changes.
- The previous owner automatically becomes an admin after the transfer.
